Join TheEduAssist as a WordPress Developer Intern and gain hands-on experience building, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites for real-world EdTech projects.
This is a remote, unpaid, learning-focused internship designed to help you develop professional web development skills.
Details:
- Role: WordPress Developer Intern (Remote)
- Schedule: Monday to Saturday | 4 hours/day (flexible between 9 AM – 4 PM PKT)
- Duration: 4 Months
- Compensation: Unpaid (Learning-focused)

Responsibilities:
- Develop and customize responsive WordPress websites from scratch or using existing themes (Elementor, Divi, Astra, etc.)
- Build and modify custom plugins and widgets as per project requirements
- Implement and maintain website security best practices (SSL, malware scanning, firewalls, secure login, updates, etc.)
- Optimize website performance (caching, image optimization, database cleanup, speed improvement)
- Perform regular backups, updates (core, themes, plugins), and troubleshooting
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, LMS plugins (LearnDash, LifterLMS, Tutor LMS), membership systems, etc.
- Collaborate with designers and content teams to convert PSD/Figma designs into fully functional WordPress sites
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and SEO-friendly structure
- Stay updated on the latest WordPress trends, security vulnerabilities, and new plugins/tools
Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in WordPress, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL
- Experience with page builders (Elementor, WPBakery, Oxygen, etc.) and theme customization
- Knowledge of custom plugin and theme development (child themes, functions.php, hooks/actions/filters)
- Understanding of WordPress security hardening and performance optimization
- Familiarity with WooCommerce, LMS plugins, membership plugins is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Git/version control and hosting environments (cPanel, Cloudways, SiteGround, etc.)
- Reliable internet connection and own laptop/PC
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills
- Graduates in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Web Development, or related fields may apply
